Lower Mustang Trek - 10 Days

Mustang has been one of the popular holiday destinations for both national and international tourists. Mustang lies in Dhawalagiri Zone of Nepal. Mustang is a less populated and remote district. It is said that Mustang was an ancient forbidden kingdom. The main occupations of the villagers in Mustang are animal husbandry and agriculture. Nowadays tourism has also been one of the occupations of the villagers in Mustang. Foods are a bit expensive in Mustang because of the geographical difficulty. Many schools and colleges have a trend to visit their students to Mustang as a tour.

Overview

Lower Mustang trek is well known popular trek in Nepal. we will start this trek from Pokhara to Jomsom valley. You can also see the famous Muktinath temple in Mustang which is an exotic pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhist and one of the highlights of this trip. The region is full of ancient Buddhist Monasteries. In this trek, you can explore the preserved Tibetan culture of Mustang and the native lifestyles of the villagers. You will see the exotic view of the mountains. You will also visit the apple garden of Marpha. The route to Lower Mustang is very relaxing because of its views.

You can have a mesmerizing view of the flight. You can also have a short visit to Pokhara and visit the lakeside in the evening. The local dishes in mustang are mostly made of potatoes and apples. The houses are old and traditional which you might not have seen yet. Trek to lower Mustang will be one of the best memories to mark in your trekking diary. Mostly, people visit Mustang at the beginning of the winter season. The trek to Mustang is not in high altitudes. In this trip, you will be flying over the deepest gorge in the world that is Kali Gandaki.

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu

After you arrive in TIA, our representative will be waiting for you to guide through the streets of Kathmandu and reach to your selected hotel. In the evening you can roam the local areas nearby the hotel and the heritages nearby. You can go through the maps and outlines of the trip at night. We will also be providing you the orientation for the trek in the afternoon.

Day 2
Flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara

After having the morning breakfast, we will take a flight to Pokhara. We will be having our lunch in Pokhara. we will visit the maximum places in Pokhara that we can visit in a day. Firstly, we will visit the Begnas Taal and do boating for an hour. Then we will also visit Devi’s fall which has a mesmerizing view. In the evening, we will have a walk around the Phewa Taal and have dinner and then return to our hotel for the night.

Day 3
Flight from Pokhara to Jomsom (2720m)

Finishing our morning breakfast, we will be taking a flight to Jomsom which will be of 30 minutes. We will be flying over the Kali Gandaki. You will have an amazing view of Dhaulagiri and Mt Annapurna. You will have so much to explore in Jomsom. The weather in Jomsom is much cooler. We will walk down for 2 hours and reach Marpha which is inherited by Thakali people. This place is famous for the Marpha apples and Marpha brandy. You will have your night stay in a lodge in Jomsom village.

Day 4
Day 04: Trek from Jomsom to Kagbeni (2900m)

Early in the morning, we will take a hike to Kagbeni, you will reach Kagbeni at your lunchtime. Moving towards kagbeni, we will view the peaks of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, and Niligiri. Kagbeni is situated on the top of the hill which gives the views of villages of Mustang. You will have a night stay in Kagbeni. Here, you can see the massive production of barely.

Day 5
Day 05: Trek from Kagbeni to Jharkot and visit the red Gompa (3519m)

Today we will be completing a walk of 3 to 4 hours. After having your morning breakfast, we will climb towards Jharkot. It is an uphill trek. When you will reach the village, you can rest for some time and walk down to see the red Gompa. It is said that Gompa is 500 years old and has a Tibetan Medicine school currently. You can enjoy the beautiful evening watching the valley and lifestyles of villagers and enjoying the local foods and stay.

Day 6
Trek to Jharkot via Muktinath (3710m)

Today we will be visiting one of the highlights of our trip that is the Muktinath temple. There are many Nepalese who just travel Mustang to visit Muktinath temple. Muktinath temple has great faith for the pilgrims. Every year thousands of pilgrims visit here from Tibet and India. It is said that you can wash your sins away here by bathing in the holy water of Muktinath. You will have a peaceful day visiting Muktinath and you will have your night in the lodge nearby.

Day 7
Trek to Jomsom via Lupra (2790)

After the morning breakfast, we will head back to Jomsom. You will continue the walk for Lupra village following the route following the views of the Annapurna range. You will also get to visit an ancient monastery – Bompo. This monastery reflects Buddhist culture. Then will head towards Jomsom which will be our place for the night.

Day 8
Flight from Jomsom to Kathmandu via Pokhara

After an early breakfast, we will go to the Jomsom airport to catch the flight to Pokhara. You will enjoy the mesmerizing view of the flight. As soon as you land at Pokhara airport, you will be catching another flight for Kathmandu. After landing at Kathmandu our representatives will drop you to your hotel where you can relax and have your foods.

Day 9
Explore Kathmandu

You have a whole day to explore Kathmandu starting with breakfast at a local place. You can visit Pashupatinath temple which is a famous pilgrimage site for Hindus. Then you can visit Boudhanath Stupa and see the local handmade crafts. Then you will visit the Dubar squares of Kathmandu. You will find lots of local foods near the durbar squares. In the evening you will visit Swayambhu and have peace of mind then return to your hotel and rest.

Day 10
Departure to an International Airport.

Our representative will help you reach to TIA by arranging you a farewell lunch and help you at the airport to fly you back to your place. In case you want further trips to Nepal, you can inform us, we will arrange it for you as per your comfort.
