Country and Visa Information
Nepal welcomes visitors from most countries with a tourist visa available on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu or through Nepalese embassies abroad. Tourist visas are commonly issued for 15, 30, or 90 days with a valid passport and passport-sized photos. It is advisable to check the latest visa requirements before traveling, as regulations may change. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure date.
Everest Base Camp Weather
The Everest region experiences four distinct seasons, each offering a different trekking experience. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) provide clear skies, stable weather, and the best mountain views. Summer (June–August) brings monsoon rains, making trails wetter and cloudier, while winter (December–February) is cold with occasional snowfall. Weather in the Himalayas can change quickly, so trekkers should always be prepared.
Everest Base Camp Accommodation
Accommodation along the Everest Base Camp Trek mainly consists of traditional teahouses and mountain lodges. Rooms are simple but comfortable, usually offering twin beds, blankets, and shared bathrooms. Most teahouses provide warm dining areas where trekkers can relax after a day’s hike. Facilities become more basic as you gain altitude, but they offer a welcoming atmosphere and essential services.
Food and Drinks
Teahouses along the trail serve a variety of freshly prepared meals, including traditional Nepali dishes like Dal Bhat, noodles, fried rice, soups, pasta, and pancakes. Hot drinks such as tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and ginger lemon honey tea are widely available throughout the trek. Bottled water can be purchased, but using purified or filtered water is a more eco-friendly option. Vegetarian meals are common, while meat is best avoided at higher elevations for freshness.
Cancellation Terms
Cancellation policies vary depending on the trekking company and the services booked. Most operators require a deposit to confirm the trip, which may be partially non-refundable if cancelled close to the departure date. Refunds are generally subject to the company’s terms and conditions, as well as any expenses already incurred for permits, flights, or accommodation. It is recommended to review the cancellation policy carefully before booking.
