Rolwaling valley trek is known as one of the most challenging and thrilling trek routes in Nepal. It is located in Gaurishankar Conservation Area (GCA) sandwiched between Langtang National Park and Sagarmatha National Park. This valley is known as the grave because of its location as it is buried down between steep ice-giants. It was also known that Yeti lived there. There are more stories about this valley which remains mysterious to date. Thus, you might be exploring some of the mysteries if you trek there. Trekkers or tourists don’t visit Rolwaling valley or we can also say that it is comparatively less visited than any other trekking routes because of the difficulty they face.

The Sherpa village of Beding has the largest settlement in Rolwaling valley. You will be blessed to see the magnificent view of Mt Gauri Shankar along with Mt. Langtang and Mt. Everest as well. Well, not only the natural beauties that are highlights of this trek but the people with their diversified ethnicities live together adds to the beauty of Rolwaling valley trek. This valley lies Northeast of Kathmandu valley, close to Tibet border and between Tama Koshi River and Khambu river. Rolwaling trek starts from Dolakha, a small town near Charikot, an eight-hour drive away from Kathmandu. Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive at Kathmandu

You will be landing at Tribhuvan International Airport where our representatives will escort you to a hotel in Kathmandu. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2
Sightseeing and Prepare for Trekking

Today, we will go for Kathmandu valley sightseeing and explore the Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, and Durbar square. After sightseeing, we will check all our trekking gears and prepare for the next day.

Day 3
Drive to Charikot (1850 meters) 6hrs.

After your breakfast, you will drive from Kathmandu to Charikot on a tourist bus. It will take you at least 8 hours to reach there. You will be having enough time to enjoy the scenic views of Koshi along the way and you will be having your lunch on the way. When you arrive at Charikot, you will be visiting the popular Hindu temple, Dolakha Bhimsen.

Day 4
Trek to Pikhuti (920 meters) 6-7 hours.

From this day, you will be starting your trek by heading towards Biguti. You will be trekking along with the ban of the Tama Koshi river and come through small settlements of diversified ethnics before reaching the riverside settlement of Phikuti. You will be resting and spending your night in a hotel at Phikuti as you need to restore your energy for the rest of the trek.

Day 5
Trek to Suri Dobhan (1030m.), 6 hours.

After your breakfast at the hotel, you will start trekking by following a forested trail until you reach Singati Bazar. After then, you will be crossing a bridge over the Tama Koshi river and ascend on the bank of the river towards Suri Dobhan. It is a village situated on the bank of Tama Koshi River and the first glimpse of Gaurishankar Himal which is at an altitude of 7,134 meters.

Day 6
Trek to Jagat (1150 meters), 6-7 hours.

You will be trekking to Jagat. To get there you will be going along the bank of Tama Koshi River and later on flat land and then cross a suspension bridge at the junction of Tama Koshi River and Spring Khola. You will encounter various vegetations like rhododendron and orchids. After you ascend through the forest you will get closer to Jagat. You will have your dinner and spend your night there.

Day 7
Trek to Simi Gaon (2036 meters), 7hours.

After having your breakfast, you will be departing for Simi Gaun. You will have to climb up and down the forest along the bank of Tama Koshi. You will pass through Gonggar Monastery and the Sherpa village of Kartung before you reach Simi Gaun. You will be seeing a stunning view of Mt Gauri Shankar at an altitude of 7134 meters as well. You will then rest and have your dinner here.

Day 8
Trek to Kyalche (2990 meters), 6 hours.

From this day, you will be entering Rolwaling valley proceeding towards and alongside the Rolwaling River. You will be witnessing this amazing and breathtaking view of Mt Gauri Shankar in early morning. You will be resting for some time when you reach a place names Surmuche then again trek on a rocky trail where you will stay overnight at Kyalche.

Day 9
Trek to Beding (3740 meters), 6-7 hours.

Beding is a popular area i.e. largest Sherpa village in Rolwaling valley. It is situated by the river. As you have entered Rolwaling, you will see various waterfalls and heavenly views of landscapes that will delight you from within. Thus, you will be staying overnight at Beding.

Day 10
Trek to Na Gaon (4180 meters), 5-6 hours.

On this day, you will be vising Gaurishankar temple which holds a mesmerizing view of Beding at an altitude of 6125 meters, Dolma Khang at an altitude of 6332 meters and Gauri Shankar Himal. You will depart from there through Gompa Gate and ascend alongside Rolwaling River to reach Na Gaon. It is situated beneath the Tsho Rolpa glacier lake and is surrounded by exceptionally noteworthy pinnacles. You will be staying overnight at Na Gaon.

Day 11
Acclimatization day

Finally, acclimatization day is here and you will be resting for the rest of the day to continue your trekking tomorrow. After all, you can complete your trek when you are full of energy and enthusiasm. You will be adapting the nature and weather of the surrounding environment as the trek is going to go harsh after this day. Thus, you will be going to a short trek to Yalung La pass (5310 meters) and again viewing a gorgeous scenario of Mt Gauri Shankar.

Day 12
Trek to Tsho Rolpa (4540 meters), 5 hours.

The day has arrived when you will trek to the largest glacier lake of Nepal, Tsho Rolpa. It has a panoramic view of the Ladung Himal range and Mahalangur Himal Range. To reach Tsho Rolpa, you will be walking along the bank of Rolwaling River and walk on a frozen trail. Walking on a frozen trail would be slippery and tough but after you see Tsho Rolpa lake with its unrealistic beauty, the deep blue water seated on the foot of Chobuje makes your journey worth it.

Day 13
Trek to Glacier Camp (4850 meters), 6 hours.

You will now proceed towards Tolumbhu Buka. You will still be walking on slippery frozen path from to the end of Tsho Rolpa and follow the lateral chines of Trakding glacier and enjoying the view of other snowy peaks side by side. You will be spending your night at Glacier Camp.

Day 14
Tashi Lapsta La Pass (5755 meters)- Camp at Thyangmo (4230m), 8-9hours.

On this day, you will leave Rolwaling valley and enter the Khumbu region through Tashi Lapsta La Pass which is at an altitude of 5755 meters. You will be ascending on the bank of Drolambau glacier on a steep trail covered in moraines. After reaching on top of Tashi Lapsta La, you will see an amazing panorama of Khumbu Himalayas as well as the Rolwaling region. You will reach Thyangbo after continuing the downhill trek and camp there overnight.

Day 15
Trek to Khumjung (3600 meters), 6 hours.

After your breakfast, you will head towards Khumjung which is located on the foot of Mt Kumbi La at an altitude of 5761 meters. After you reach there you will see monasteries and rich Sherpa culture where you will be staying overnight.

Day 16
Trek to Namche Bazaar (3780 meters), 1 hours.

You can reach Namche Bazaar after a short downhill trek through the picturesque village of Khunde and Hotel Everest View (3880 m). Namche Bazaar is the gateway to Mt Everest. It is a Sherpa town vibrant with plenty of shops and eateries for the trekkers and tourists. you will be seeing a breathtaking view of mighty Everest which is 8848 meters above sea level.

Day 17
Trek to Lukla (2840 meters), 6hours.

You will have your breakfast at Namche Bazaar the head towards Lukla by continuing a downhill trek and cross Dudh Koshi River through multiple suspension bridges. You will also be passing through small villages with Mani walls, prayer wheels, and prayer flags to reach Phakding.

Day 18
Flight to Kathmandu

This is the end of your trek and you will be flying back to Kathmandu. After having your breakfast you will catch a morning flight and you will also be enjoying the aerial view of Himalayas and landscapes for the last time. After your arrival, our representatives will escort you to the hotel. you will have plenty of time to buy souvenirs and gifts for your loved ones after your lunch. You can also visit some places and explore the Kathmandu valley as well. You will also be having a farewell dinner with our representative at a Nepali cuisine restaurant.

Day 19
Departure

On the 19th and the final day, you will be departing for your home country. Before your flight schedule, you’ll be driven to the airport by our private van. We hope you had quite an unforgettable journey throughout this trip and you will be visiting Nepal soon again.
