TILICHO-MESOKANTA PASS TREK- A STEP CLOSER TO PARADISE

Mesokanta Pass trek is popularly known as the hidden valley which is situated at an altitude of 5,320 meters in the northern corner of the Annapurna region. This trek is one of the most challenging yet adventurous trekking trails in Nepal. Mesokanta pass holds a magnificent view of Annapurna Himalayas and dry hidden villages. It has difficult paths and narrow trails but this entire struggle is worth it when you see a panoramic view of various mountain peaks.

Overview

Mesokanta Pass Trek called Tilicho Pass trek to Annapurna Region. You will find the villages and the people culturally influences by Tibetan cultures and traditions. These villages will lack infrastructure developments but all these people with their lifestyle will leave you amazed and unbelievable. People here speak the varied and distinct language; you will also find Sino-Tibetan linguistic families with their native language, “Manangi”. Besides the lack of infrastructure, children are taught the religious texts of Buddhism.

You will find yourself trekking at some sections of Annapurna Circuit Trek. Although Mesokanta Pass trek is difficult and rugged, you will have the feeling of achievement after covering all the distance. The Valley of the Trans-Himalayas includes two villages of Bhotia: Manang. This trekking area shows you the genuine Manang district culture and nature. This trek will be covering at least 16 days from arrival to departure. You will also visit the Mustang district where the Upper Mustang trek will starts. Mainly Thakali People are staying in this area after crossing Mesokanta. Jomsom is the Main city for Mustangs People.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Day 2: Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley

Day 3: Drive to Beshi Sahar 800m.-Drive to Chyamje 1400m. 9 hours.

Day 4: Trek to Dharapani 1860m./6-7hrs.

Day 5: Trek to Chame 2670m./6hrs.

Day 6: Trek to Pisang 3200m./5-6 hrs.

Day 7: Trek to Manang 3540m./ 5hrs.

Day 8: Acclimatization Day

Day 9: Trek to Khangsar village 3700m./4 hours.

Day 10:Trek to Tilicho Base Camp 4150m./6hrs.

Day 11: Trek to Tilicho Lake 4919m./ 4 hours.

Day 12: Tilicho 4919m-Mesokunto-la 5340m. Kaisang 3510m./8hrs.

Day 13: Trek to Jomsom 2700m./5hrs

Day 14: Fly to Pokhara 20 Minute.

Day 15: Fly Back to Kathmandu 40 Minute

Day 16: Final Departure

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu

When you arrive in Kathmandu, our representatives will immediately escort you to your hotel. You can rest there or even explore nearby places if you have enough time. You will have your dinner then overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2
Explore the capital city, Kathmandu

The next day you will wake up, have your breakfast and our representative will take you for a whole day sightseeing. You will be seeing at least 2 or 3 world heritage sites i.e. Swoyambhunath, also known as a monkey temple, Pashupatinath temple, and Bouddhanath Stupa. If you have more time you can again visit other places as well. In the evening the tour guide will also explain to you the details of Kangla pass trek.

Day 3
Drive to Beshi Sahar 800m.-Drive to Chyamje 1400m. 9 hours.

You will be having your breakfast then depart for Beshi Sahar by a four-wheeler. This will take you around six hours. You will be traveling through Prithvi Highway up to Dumre. the road will lead you towards Beshisahar along the banks of Marshyangdi River. Then, we will take local jeep drive to Chyamje village.

Day 4
Trek to Dharapani 1860m./6-7hrs.

The trail you walk crisscrosses the river as you climb higher up the valley. You will see a slight change in the culture of people with more Tibetan Buddhist influences. Thus, this will take six hours by walking and night stay in the village of Dharapani.

Day 5
Trek to Chame 2670m./6hrs.

After your breakfast, you will proceed towards Chame. Chame is the headquarter of Manang district and it has lodges, internet cafes, trek-gear shops, health posts, and a bank. At the entrance to the village, you will pass by a large mani wall adorned with prayer wheels. There are fine views of Annapurna II as you approach Chame. You will be staying overnight in a lodge in Chame.

Day 6
Trek to Pisang 3200m./5-6 hrs.

Chame to Pisang trek distance is 13 to 14 kilometers. The trail will ascend gradually and take 5 to 6 hours to reach Pisang on foot. You can find an amazing sunrise and sunset view. You will have an unmatched opportunity to explore the verdant forests, terraced fields, quaint villages, assorted flora, and fauna, etc.

Day 7
Trek to Manang 3540m./ 5hrs.

Pisang to Manang trek distance is 15.7 kilometers. It takes 5 to 6 hours to cross all flat trail. You will be crossing many valleys, Buddhist shrines, temples, mountain ranges which add beauty to your journey and also ease up your stress. You will be spending your night at Manang.

Day 8
Acclimatization Day

You will have the rest of the day at Manang for acclimatization. You are free to do whatever you want. You can go for a short hike to the Praken Gompa monastery or Chongkor hill. Besides these two places, we recommend you visit the Gangapurna lakeside, “Chongkor viewpoint”. It offers beautiful views. Another highly recommended and popular place is Ice lake Khicho and Milarepa cave.

Day 9
Trek to Khangsar village 3700m./4 hours.

You will depart from Manang to Khangsar village. You will be walking along the bank of Marshyangdi river through the valley of weathered rocks and view of Annapurna II. After five hours of walk, you will enter Khangsar village. There are accommodation facilities at the lodges. You can enjoy the view; you will also see breathtaking sunsets and sunrise that will cherish you.

Day 10
Trek to Tilicho Base Camp 4150m./6hrs.

After breakfast, you will be heading towards Tilicho Base Camp. It is typically positioned at the side valley with a small stream full of freshwater. You can also see the further continuation of the path to lake Tilicho. After you reach there, you will see majestic views of the ridge from Khangsar Kang to the Tilicho peak.

Day 11
Trek to Tilicho Lake 4919m./ 4 hours.

Now finally you will be trekking to Tilicho Lake which is the highest lake in the world. It is a destination every Nepali wants to reach once in their lifetime. Lake Tilicho receives the glacial melt from and across the entire northern slopes of Annapurna. Note:: There will be seasonal tea houses at Tilicho Lake, they will open for tourists as per our request for spend overnight, otherwise we must start earlier from Tilicho Base Camp to Lake and Same Day cross the Mesokanta Pass and trek to next village.

Day 12
Tilicho 4919m-Mesokunto-la 5340m. Kaisang 3510m./8hrs.

The next day, you will depart from Tilicho lake for Kaisang Village Kharka. You will be going through Mesokanta La Pass also known as Tilicho pass in the Annapurna region of western Nepal. It is an isolated trek with a combination of adventures along with delightful experiences of nature, culture, and civilizations.

Day 13
Trek to Jomsom 2700m./5hrs

After breakfast, you will be trekking to Jomsom which takes around 6 hours on foot. Jomsom is very famous for its juicy and delicious apple production and is distributed throughout the country. You will be staying overnight in a lodge at Jomsom.

Day 14
Fly to Pokhara 20 Minute.

The trekking part of this journey will finally come to an end when you fly back to Pokhara. You will be saying a final bye to this amazing adventure. This flight won’t take time i.e. 20 minutes. You can also have an aerial view of the landscapes. After reaching Pokhara, you will have free time to relax. There are several tourist shops, Restaurants and so on for hanging around. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 15
Fly Back to Kathmandu 40 Minute

Today, you will take the first flight to Kathmandu and save your time for last-minute shopping. Our airport representative will escort you to the hotel.

Day 16
Final Departure

You will also be having a farewell either Breakfast OR Lunch with the owner of Himalaya Family Adventure then our representatives will drop you to airport in a way to say thank you for visiting Nepal.

Although we will be having all the trekking gears, you will still need other materials or gear we may not know. The things that you need personally are to be brought by yourself. Medicines, water bottle, a backpack, sunscreen or cold cream, lip balm, or any other belonging you think should be with you. We also suggest you to briefly research the place where you will be trekking to. This will help you stay on the safe side all the time. Its always good to learn the culture and lifestyle where you will be going so that both you as a tourist and the local people can interact with each other.
