Numbur cheese circuit trek is one of the newly opened trekking areas. It is the best trek for those who want to escape from the regular tracks. This trek will offer you an impressive view of glacial lakes, terraced rice fields, subtropical forests, and Sherpa village.

Overview

Numbur Cheese Circuit trekking route lies in Ramechhap about 190km east of Kathmandu. The Starting point of this trek is Shivalaya, and the one who does not want to fly to Lukla, for the Everest Base Camp trek is also the start. On the way, you will observe the splendid view of the majestic Himalayan peaks including Numburchuli (6959m), Ramdung (5930m), Parchamo (6273m), Sarmche (5255m), Bigphrea Go Num (6666m), chukyima Go (6959m), Everest range, Annapurna south, Gaurishankar and many more.

The route has been recommended for 14 days; however, you can expand or compress the days of trek according to your desire. You will continue your trek through the Likhu Khola valley up to the remote yak grazing land of Ngeju nestled at the foot of the ice-fall fall-down from the Numbur. You will visit the first yak cheese factory established in 1957 BS and the famous Thodung monastery.

It is generally an eco-lodge camping trek. Moreover, this trek will offer you a unique home-stay experience among Sherpa Communities and their unique culture and traditions. And if you are lucky enough, you can catch a glimpse of the elusive snow leopard. The rhododendrons bloom in mass during April and May. You may also see eagles and musk deer as well as Himalayan tahr. If you are beginning your trek during monsoon season, then the route is generally closed so you must continue your journey from Jiri to Shivalaya.

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival at Kathmandu

As you land in Kathmandu, at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will find our representative to welcome you to the Airport, without doing any delay, you will transfer to your selected Hotel in Kathmandu. You can spend the day according to your desire. You can also shop for some personal trekking gear such as medicine, Trekking shorts, Sunscreen. In the evening you will meet your guide, he will provide some necessary information regarding the trek.

Day 2
Exploring and sightseeing Kathmandu.

Today we can explore some of the best sites in the Kathmandu Valley. Today’s sightseeing at some UNESCO Heritage sites ( Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Shwoyambhunath, Durbar Square…) and return to the hotel.

Day 3
Drive from Kathmandu to Shivalaya (1,790m), 7 hours.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will be darting toward Shivalaya by bus. It will take almost 7-6 hours to reach Shivalaya. Through the way, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of hills, villages, and snowcapped mountains. It is the main entrance to the Numbur Cheese Circuit Trek. Overnight in a tented camp lodge at Shivalaya.

Day 4
Trekking from Shivalaya to Khahare (2175m),

Next morning you will have a trek toward Khahare. The trek duration will be of 3- 4 hours. Khahare is the small village generally populated in winter by the residents of higher altitude, who move up with their cattle in the summer. The major attraction of this trip is khhimti Village and the Sherpa homestay. Overnight stay at eco camping at Khahare.

Day 5
Trekking from Khahare to Panipakha (3150m)

The next day early in the morning will be leaving Khahara and head toward Panipakha. It is a plain camping area midst the scattered chauri sheds and the alpines. You will observe the dazzling sunset in the mountains. The major attraction of this trip is its Eco-camping experience. Overnight at Panipakha.

Day 6
Trekking from Panipakha to Manedanda(3940m)

From Panipakha, you will begin your trek toward Manedanda. The trek duration will be of 4-5 hours. The trek goes through a tiny Sherpa settlement. On the way, you will enjoy the rhododendron forest to the summertime fields of Manedanda. The major attraction of this trip is the Kaleidoscopic view of the Khimti river valley.

Day 7
Trekking from Manedenda to Panch Pokhari (4515m)

Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will be darting toward Panch Pokhari. The trek duration will be of 5 hours. It is the holy place at the elevation of 4200m. You can visit the temple of lord shiva guarded by the sharp iron tridents. Many followers of Hinduism visit to worship Lord Shiva, in June and July on full moon days. The major attraction of this trip is Himalayan peaks, Yak Pastures, Yak Cheese, and high-altitude lakes.

Day 8
Trekking from Pach Pokhari to Thare (4140m)

The next day, early morning will be heading toward Tara. The trek duration will be of 6-7 hours. This time you will cross the pass at height of 4600m and move downhill to reach Thare. You will move through Khola Kharka and further downward to Nupche River. Through the way, you can also taste some yummy cheese of Yak. The major attraction of this trip is the Glacier walk, Himalayan peaks, high altitude pastures. Overnight at Thare.

Day 9
Trekking from Tare to Ngeiu (3690m)

The next day, you will be heading toward Ngeiu from Tare. The trek duration will be 6-7 hours. Today, you will hike from Thare to Linkhu Khola valley. This time the hiking is a little bit challenging. You can observe the splendid view of hills, mountains, and rivers. Moreover, the sight of Himalayas from the north into the Tibet. The trek Downhill from Likhu glacier will lead you to the Ngeiu. The major attraction of this trip is the glacier walk altitude pastures and lakes, mountain peaks. Overnight stay at Ngeiu.

Day 10
Acclimatization Day in Negeiu (3690m)

Acclimatization is essential during hiking in the Himalayas. So Negeiu will be the perfect place to stop. You can explore the nearby places of Negeiu. The major attraction of this place is Adventurous pass, the glacier walks altitude pastures and lakes, mountain peaks. Overnight in the homestay at Ngeiu.

Day 11
Trekking from Negeiu to Lhachhewar (2665m)

Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will be darting toward Lhachhewar from Negeiu. This day you will head off from Negeiu to Lahaksewar, also known as Sewar. This time you will enjoy the warm hospitality of the Sherpa people. Overnight in the homestay at Lhachhewar.

Day 12
Trekking from Lhachhewar to Gumdel (225580m)

This time you will hike uphill to Kamya. Also, slope down across the thick jungles of kyama. During the way, you can observe the majestic sight of Numbruchuli and Pathibhara. You will be leaving the shiny Numburchuli in the background, you will now bid goodbye to the mountains and reach homestay at Gumdel. You will observe the warm hospitality of Sherpa people and experience the unique Sherpa Culture during Mountainous valleys. Overnight stay at Gumdel.

Day 13
Trekking from Gumdel to Serding (3360m)

From Gumdel you will be heading toward Serding by crossing the thick and beautiful forest. The trek duration will be of Four hours. You can also enjoy the splendid scenery of sub-alpine and temperate forests. You will observe the impressive view of Guri Shanker and Numburchuli in the background. Overnight in the homestay at Serding.

Day 14
Trekking from Serding to Thodung- Lapchane (3105m)

The next day early in the morning will be leaving Serding and head toward Lapchane vai Thodung. You will visit Thodung Monastery on your way. The trek duration will be of 6 hours. During the way, you can observe the Dhaulagiri, Gau Shanker, Annapurna, Numbur, Kanchenjunga, and more. Overnight at tented camp/Homestay at Lapchane.

Day 15
Trekking from Lapchane to Those (17755m)

Early in the morning, will begin the trek to Those. After reaching Those you can spend a peaceful evening, resting or exploring the wilderness. This will be the last way of the trek. The next day you will be driving back to Kathmandu.

Day 16
Drive back to Kathmandu (1350m)

From Lapchane we will drive back to Kathmandu. It will take almost 9 hours to reach Kathmandu. And in the evening time, you can also enjoy some delightful moments in Kathmandu. You will be provided a farewell dinner at Kathmandu.

Day 17
Departure from Kathmandu

Before the few hours of the departure flight, our representative will take you to the Tribhuvan International Airport. In your free time, you can still visit some nearby restaurants if you want.
